Running into duplicate data in an Access Database can be quite annoying during the hectic workday, so I decided to write up a technique to help identify the duplicate records so you can manually handle them. More than likely the cause is that Windows renamed the drive to a letter that is already in use. This will happen if you have several card readers, thumb drives or external hard drives attached. It will also happen if you are on a network and have mapped drives. To find the drive and then rename it, you’ll want to right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Why Build Your Own Drive? Since at least 2020, manufacturers of external USB hard drives have been using a technology called Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) in their products that increases capacity and lowers cost, but dramatically limits the performance of the drives. Go to Start Run and type in regedit and click OK. Now in Registry Editor go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel Click on Desktop. This opens several values in the left pane, scroll down to MenuShowDisplay and double click. Mercedes-Benz built an experimental concept electric car earlier this year, called the Vision EQXX, intended for testing new battery and cooling technology. Windows Vista has built-in handling for zip files – you can create, extract, or even browse right down into them as if they were a folder. But if you have very big zip files sitting on your hard drive, bad things can happen unless you disable the zip handler. How We Figured It Out Just today, I was trying to restore some of my files from a previous backup. I grabbed the enormous zip file off my network drive and saved it onto the desktop....

The real problem comes into play when Windows gets tired of reminding us and says that the computer is going to reboot in 5 minutes, and the only way you can prevent the inevitable is to temporarily disable Windows Update. There’s a couple of ways that we can disable this behavior, however. You’ll still get the prompt, but it won’t force you to shut down. This trick should work for all versions of Windows as far as we know....

To turn off this behavior, type about:config into the address bar, and then type the following into the Filter bar: Just double-click the item in the list to change it to false.
