If you don’t want your Discord friends to know when you come online, you can choose to appear offline. You can make your profile appear offline on all platforms, and we’ll show you how.
After setting your profile status to offline (Discord calls this status Invisible), you can continue using Discord as usual. Also, Discord won’t automatically change your status to “Idle” due to inactivity like it does when you appear online. Since your status is account-wide, the status change will apply to all Discord servers.

How to Appear Offline on Discord for Desktop
The Discord interface is the same on both the web app and the desktop app, so the steps below should help you switch your Discord status to appear offline regardless of your platform.
To get started, open the Discord website or the official Discord app for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
When the site or the app loads, sign in if you haven’t already. At the bottom-left corner, you’ll see your profile picture with your status and your username. Click on your profile picture.
A pop-up menu for status options will open. Select the “Invisible” status option from it.
A gray circular icon under the user’s profile picture indicates the Invisible or offline status.
How to Appear Offline on Discord for Mobile
Open the Discord app for Android, iPhone, or iPad. Tap the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-left of the screen.
Then, tap on your profile picture in the bottom-right corner to open “User Settings.”
When the “User Settings” menu opens, tap “Online” next to the “Set Status” option.
Select “Invisible” from the menu that pops from the bottom of the screen.
Your profile photo will show a gray circle indicating offline mode instead of the green dot for online mode.
That’s it! You can further personalize your Discord Account to make it easier for your friends to identify you when your status is Online or Do Not Disturb.
