To insert an existing sound file open Word and click the Insert tab on the Ribbon then in the Text section click on the Object button. In the Object window click the “Create from File” tab. Then browse to the location of the file you want to add to the document. You can choose to display as an icon as well. As you can see it is possible to change the sound file icon by default you can choose only three different icons....

What you might not realize is that you don’t have to use the mouse to access the functions on that ridiculous menu. Let’s start by first hitting the Windows key to pop up the start menu. Now use the right arrow key, and you’ll see that the Sleep button is highlighted. If you hit enter, your computer will immediately enter sleep mode. That’s only 3 keystrokes… not too bad....

Out of the box Sunbird has a very clean interface. For you Firefox fans navigation will be pretty intuitive. The Options and settings are very straight forward like with Firefox. As with Firefox there are many extensions to add functionality to your calendar. For a stand a lone calendar Sunbird is a lot more promising than Windows Calendar included in Vista.

The icon comes in two varieties that you’ve probably seen. Just right-click the icon, and choose Pointing Device Properties from the menu. On the Device Settings tab, you’ll find a Tray Icon section. Using Monitor ES Monitor ES is a small executable utility that doesn’t require installation, just launch and leave it run while you want to use it. Monitors are turned off when you lock your computer using “Win+L”, Ctrl+Alt+Del & Lock”, alternatively you can use “Ctrl+F2” to turn off the display. Select if you want the monitor to turn off or enable screen saver mode. In Preferences you can control the media, IM, and auto start features....

You can customize the search results returned in the Start menu search box to only return the results that you want. I personally only want to use the start menu search to pull up applications, so I disabled everything else. To configure this setting, right click on the Start button and select Properties. Click the Customize button, and you can scroll down to the Search checkboxes. For best results, change the Search files radio button to “Don’t search for files”....

The way this trick works is by modifying the regional settings for the time format. Instead of using just AM or PM, you can put up to 12 characters of text in that field. Start by opening Regional and Language Options from the start menu search box or the control panel. On the Formats tab you’ll see the “Customize this format” button, which you’ll need to choose. Select the Time tab, and then here’s where we can make whatever settings we want....

The Mozilla Thunderbird email application is having a resurgence right now, with development ramping up and an expanded team behind the project. Mozilla has now confirmed how Thunderbird will be ported to Android. Thunderbird is almost 20 years old, and duplicating all its features in an entirely new codebase on a new platform would likely take several years, at a minimum. That’s why the Thunderbird team is taking a different approach: adopting K-9 Mail for Android....

Using Toggle Flash If you don’t see the new button on the toolbar after you run through the installation, you’ll want to right-click on the buttons and uncheck the “Lock the Toolbars” item. Then you can drag the dotted line over so you can see more of the buttons, and you’ll see the new Toggle Flash icon on the right-hand side of the toolbar. Of course it’s much easier to just look under Customize on the same menu and choose Customize Toolbar, then move the button up in the list so it’s further over to the left....

The problem is that by default the HP drivers include a couple of different updates, but those updates also require Administrator privileges to run, so you get prompted to run the updates. To make this even worse… the updates are for the help and support, not even for the drivers. The USB Promoter Group, a consortium of companies including Apple, HP, Intel, Microsoft, and others, announced the “pending release of the USB4 Version 2.0 specification.” The update won’t be finalized sometime before November, so don’t expect to see PCs and other devices with USB4 Version 2.0 before the end of the year. Data speeds are the main improvement this time around, just like with most USB updates. The maximum speed is now 80 Gbps, thanks to a “new physical layer architecture,” which is expected to be compatible with 40 Gbps existing cables....

This is especially helpful for those of us that maintain a hotmail account but don’t like to ever check it because we don’t use it all that often. Chrome 97 arrived on January 4, 2022. This release brings better tools for deleting stored website data, nicer-looking web apps, and more granular zoom controls for the mobile version of the browser.
